Postal Collage Project

Since 2023, I have participated in the Berkley Commonplace Postal Collage Project. The project starts in September of each year with teams of five artists. Each artist creates a “starter” collage, mails it to the next artist in line, who collages and then sends it onto the next person in line, until the artwork returns to you for final additions (or subtractions). Each artist may alter the collage as they see fit. It is always a surprise to respond to the work of others and to see how my collage has been adapted. It is sometimes challenging as the subject matter is not something I personally enjoy and I have to push my creativity to find a way into the collage. Other times, its so easy flow right into the collage.

The final collage has two images of grandmothers. The artist before me collaged an image of her grandmother and I followed with an image of mine.

2024 - Secret Agent Collage Collective Collaboration

The team for these two collages where created in collaboration with the Secret Agent Collage Collective. The instructions were to create a 4×6 sized collage using only black and white materials. The final artist (the collage creator) could add one additional color to complete the collage. The collages were displayed during World Collage Day at the Slip Gallery in Seattle, WA. This was Mission 15.
