Abandoned Stamps

In 2021, I purchased 7lbs of stamps from an online thrift store to use in a project at my son’s elementary school. Seven pounds is quite a large number of stamps, and I was left with quite a bit. This project is an attempt to see what’s possible using only the materials in the bag I received, with the exception of a substrate to mount the collages on. The bag contained stamps (on and off paper), envelopes with stamps and addresses, and a small amount of ephemera from stamp collecting. I have soaked many of the stamps off paper and have kept the leftover paper. The paper the stamps were mounted on is incredibly interesting and includes postcard corners, torn letter corners, and interior envelope patterns. All of it is interesting to work with.
